Leverage Your Quirky Customers |
|
|
|
The electronics accessory company Otterbox asks their quirky customers to offer video testimonial of their products - such as Moses, who shares his excitement via dance in the video Moses Loves Otterbox.
Genuine-sounding customer testimonials carry far more clout than when you try to talk about how awesome you are (not that I doubt it for a moment). And when the testimonials are humorous, the odds of them being shared on social media increases dramatically. So, solicit some fun testimonials from your customers. Create a contest for the funniest testimonial quote, encourage them to write a song about your company, or show their appreciation through dance. Ask customers to review you as
though they were writing a movie review. Or, instead of the same old "1-10 scale," create a scale that relates to your business, or is just a tad quirky:
Please rate how happy you were with us on a scale of:
"Hey, not too shabby to.... Wowzer Batman, you ROCK!"
(And on that note, if anyone feels inclined to send along a quirky testimonial on behalf of yours truly, I wouldn't say no! Heck, you might even win a valuable prize!)

Mike's Fun at Work Tip |
|
A filmmaker asked Twitter users to describe their favorite movie in as boring a way as possible, so why not turn this idea into a fun meeting icebreaker that also gets the creative juices swirling. Have everyone draw a title of an exciting, iconic movie from a hat or just come up with their own movie selection. Give everyone a minute to think on it, and then have everyone describe that movie in the
most boring way possible and see if people can guess the movie. For example, as shared on twitter, For Lord of the Rings: "Guy finds a ring and returns it to the factory." Or, can you guess this iconic comedy: "Man turns off alarm clock 3,176 times."

Quote of the Week |
|
“You have a choice with your mindset: be a thermostat or a thermometer. Thermometers respond to the temperature in the room and settle out to the existing temperature, while thermostats set the temperature in the room. Thriving leaders are thermostats that set the temperature in the room.” Steve Foran, the
dashing author of Surviving to Thriving
