    What's Driving Those Millennials?

Did you know that the oldest batch of those upstart millennials are about to hit 40? Yup, I bet some of you feel a little old right now?

The company Leadership IQ identified the top three drivers that are predictors of what makes millennials love a company and feel motivated to give their best efforts:

#1 Quality. They want to work for a company that delivers quality products or services. They want to be able to tell their friends they are proud of where they work.

#2 Learning. They want to work in an environment where they can continually learn new skills and grow.

#3 Feeling valued. They want to know their work matters.

I want to suggest (and so I will, darn it) that these three values are a great recipe for success regardless of the age of your employees.

    Mike's Fun at Work Tip

Create a "humor time capsule" for your office.

In a Forbes article a lawyer described how she borrowed a fun idea from her first boss, who had what he coined a "funny box" sitting under his desk where he stowed things that made him chuckle. Anytime her boss got overwhelmed he would go through the materials stashed in his funny box to give himself a much-needed laugh.

Today, the law firm she works in has two team funny boxes where everyone adds weird props, funny emails, or amusing court documents. Once a year they pull out the laugh boxes and everyone takes a turn sharing the backstory of an item or reading one of the documents, always resulting in whoops of laughter.
