    Conversations to Bridge the Gap

To encourage an honest conversation about workplace issues, one of my clients had people contribute anonymously to a "discussion jar."  Everyone was asked to submit one answer to the following question, depending on whether you were an employee or supervisor:

"If you are an employee, what do you wish senior managers would just "get" about your experience working here as a front line employee?"

"If you are a manager or supervisor, what do you wish employees would just "get" about your experience working here as a manager?"

Dirt simple, but it led to some rich conversations that helped managers better understand employees' perspectives, and it helped employees appreciate many of the unspoken stressors that their managers wrestled with day in and day out.

Speaking of those questions, can I kindly ask you for a small favor? I'm working on a new book on how to lead from the front lines, be less of a work jerk, and be more accountable as an employee.
If you have five minutes to spare, I'd love your thoughts on five questions related to: The Jerk-Free Workplace - Leading From the Front Lines. Thank you! Your support is always so appreciated and valued! And if any managers would be willing to have a 10-minute conversation with me on this topic, please let me know!

    Mike's Fun at Work Tip

With so many of you still working remotely, a fun way to say 'thanks,' congratulate someone, or send them a happy birthday greeting is to record a group Zoom video message featuring the entire gang all on one screen at the same time. You can have different people deliver one word of the message at a time or have fun with everyone trying to sing or say the message in unison! rule1
