      Two Minute Mornings

If you want to be more present in the morning, here's a ritual you and your family may want to try. As a way to focus in the morning, rather than automatically checking his smart phone, Neil Pasricha, author of The Book of Awesome, practices "Two-Minute Mornings" each day using these three mental prompts:

1. "I will let go of..."  (to eject a small anxiety);
2. "I am grateful for..." (to focus on the positive);
3. "I will focus on..." (to crystallize a 'will do' list for the day).

    Mike's Fun at Work Tip

The employees at Novotel Hotel in Ottawa wear badges that identify their main hobby or passion in life as a fun way to break the ice with fellow employees and guests. I've seen similar ideas in tourist resorts where servers wear badges identifying their home town.

    It's a Wacky World

I bring sad news from the world of grammar policing: 96-year-old John Richards, founder of the Apostrophe Protection Society, has admitted defeat and ended his twenty-year quest to ensure people were using apostrophe's...oops, apostrophes properly. In his last official communique, Richards was quoted as saying, "The ignorance and laziness present in modern times have won." Its a sad day indeed. (And yes, I'm hoping my last sentence will cajole him out of retirement).
