What If There Were No More Hump Days!?

It's time for another ginger-infused, low-fat edition of random musings and ideas...
  • If you want to be more productive, consider creating a "Don't Do List" to remind you of all the things that aren't important and that might distract you from the important stuff.
  • If you want to energize people to make improvements in your workplace create different monthly themes to rally everyone around (here are 22 Monthly Workplace Theme Ideas).
  • A study by Lifesavers (okay, so they're a tad biased) found that office workers who keep candy at their desk are more liked AND they hear more workplace gossip.
  • A recent survey suggests more and more companies are creating tech-free days (no e-mail, no Internet access) to boost productivity and foster better interpersonal relationships. Why not start with a half day in your workplace and test the results?
  • Get in the habit of regularly asking your customers this question, "What's NOT fun about doing business with us?" It's a great question to uncover some annoying customer pet peeves that might easily be fixed.
  • A Melbourne-based company decided to scrap hump days...yup, they shut down on Wednesdays. Employees still put in 37.5 hours a week on the remaining four days, morale is up, employees are more productive, and the company is 3x times more profitable than they were before the dump of the hump.

    Mike's Fun at Work Tip

A quick and simple meeting icebreaker - have everyone share the #1 destination they want to travel to, but the destination must begin with the same letter as the letter of their first name. So if your name is Waldo, (and I want to hear your answer Waldo) you have to choose the #1 destination you'd like to travel to that starts with the letter "w".

    Deep Thought of the Week

"Intentionally trying to lose at rock, paper, scissors is just as hard as trying to win."

A few funny headlines from around the globe...
