The Top-10 for a Happier Office

Sorry to have missed you last week, I was down for the count with a pneumonia. Here's some sage advice: Don't catch pneumonia. Seriously, it's just not a heck of a lot of fun.

In other news...here's the survey results revealing the perks/factors/items office workers said would help increase their happiness or lower their stress in 2019. The survey didn't focus on workplace cultural aspects, which I'd wager are approximately 1,000x more important than any office perk. But looking at the list, how does your workplace rate? What could you work on? What top-3 items would you select? What's missing?

1.  Healthy snacks and drinks (33%)
2.  Perfect climate (30%)
3.  Cleanliness (26%)
4.  Relaxation/sleep zones (21%)

5.  Subsidized food (21%)
6.  An office dog (20%)
7.  Office games, such as pool tables, ping-pong tables  (19%)
8.  Parking (17%)
9.  Plants (17%)
10. Gym access (15%)

A simple way to present survey results, whether they're survey results from your employees, industry trends, or customer feedback, is to present them "Family Feud" style (as in the game show, not your in-laws). If you have enough data you can even turn it into a mini Family Feud game at work: "We asked all our employees what their #1 favorite perk at work is, and the top six answers are on the board!"  Surveying employees and then relaying the findings back in an engaging manner is a fantastic way to involve employees, make them feel valued and connected, help employees retain the information better, and gain valuable insights all at once.
