      All Aboard the Idea Station

Two issues ago I wrote about the Jolt Recognition Station I saw during my visit at the headquarters of Futurice in Helsinki, Finland. Futurice had another very effective station: a giant idea board where employees could post their thoughts using sticky notes on a massive whiteboard. They use the idea board to collect ideas and feedback after a presentation, workshop, meeting or project has ended. The idea board is divided into the following categories:
  • What did we do well?
  • What could we have done better?
  • What do we need support with moving forward?
It's a simple but effective way to give everyone a voice and encourage follow up.

One of my clients holds an annual car racing tournament each summer in their office, where drivers, in teams, compete for various prizes. The races include obstacle course races, relay races, and racing while blindfolded. Oh...right, for safety reasons I should probably clarify - these are races using remote control cars!

In case you miss out on this unique opportunity I thought I better remind you: Tonight, August 8, is official "Leave Some Zucchini On Your Neighbor's Porch" night. You're welcome.
