Are You Excited to Be at Work Today? |

It's another moose-flavored edition of random musings and ideas...
- Google did a long term study looking into what mattered the most when it comes to team effectiveness. And what mattered the most was trust - people feeling psychologically safe to express ideas, share concerns, or ask tough questions openly. How does your team rate?
- At Leo Pharmacy in Copenhagen, employees place a green marker next to their name on a board if they are having a good day, a red marker if it's a bad day. It's a reminder for everyone to be more intentional about their attitude and it helps make it okay for everyone to have a bad day now and then.
- Studies show that influential leaders and teammates are far more likely to use the word "we" over "I" or "me."
- If you want to cheer up quit slouching! 92% of participants in a study were better able to recall optimistic thoughts and happy events when sitting upright vs. sitting in a slouched position. (I bet you just sat up a little straighter, didn't you?)
- I'm excited to share this tidbit with you: A study by Allison Wood Brooks of Harvard found that when people were nervous about an upcoming event (such as public speaking), they outperformed other people when they reframed their thinking from feeling "anxious" to feeling "excited" - this simple mind shift moved them from a negative emotion to a positive emotion.

Mike's Fun at Work Tip |

Today is Discover What Your Name Means Day and tomorrow is official Name Tag Day, so hand out name tags tomorrow (or some Friday when you want to add a bit of fun to the day) and have everyone wear a name tag explaining what their name means - if they don't know or their name has no meaning, encourage them to make up something fun.
