Great Workplace Ideas...For You
It's another nicotine-free edition of random ideas and thoughts to help you build a better workplace...
- Using a time-tracking productivity app, The Draugiem Group discovered that the top-10% most productive employees took far more frequent breaks (on average every 52 minutes) throughout the day than less productive employees.
- A lot of companies name their meeting rooms something inspirational or fun, but why stop there? Come up with fun names that tie into your brand or values for all your stairwells, hallways, elevators, and offices.
- According to a survey from Net Impact, 58% of employees would take a cut in pay in order to work for a company that's better aligned with their personal values.Would you?
- Customer service speaker extraordinaire Jeff Mowatt suggests adding two simple words to your service repertoire that will make a big difference, whether talking to a customer, colleague, or your boss: When restaurant servers frequently use the words, "for you," as in, "I've brought more coffee for you," customers feel like the service is more personal and tips increase by an average of 12%.
- De-cluttering your work space is a proven way to reduce stress and boost your mood.Cluttered work areas can create a sense of chaos and serve as a visual reminder of the work your aren't getting done.
- A study suggested that taking just five minutes at the start of each day to either meditate OR tap into your sense of humor (by reading the comics, watching a funny video, or sharing a clean joke) helps set your mood for at least the next several hours - yet one more reason to start morning team huddles!
