      Celebrate Your Origins

Are you remembering to celebrate significant milestones in your business? Celebrating key milestones and accomplishments is one way to connect everyone to a bigger sense of purpose and give everyone a sense of progress and pride, while celebrating your founding date and beginning helps keep your history alive and reminds everyone of how far you've come.

Which brings me around to our own celebration here at Humor at Work. It's our 20th anniversary! And without the support of people like you we wouldn't be here! So to help celebrate our milestone and as a way of saying thank-you...the first 20 people to respond to this message will get the e-book version of The Humor Advantage - Why Some Businesses Are Laughing All the Way to the Bank for free! Operators are standing by...

    Mike's Fun at Work Tip

I just got back from cruising the high Arctic aboard a Russian research vessel, where they auctioned off the chance to do the morning wake up announcement. The passenger who won the bid nominated yours truly, so I had the pleasure of delivering a fun, high energy wake up call for the 86 passengers. It was a creative and fun way to involve the passengers, so what can your business do to involve your costumers in a fun way?

The different ways you can engage your customers in a fun way is limitless. The Iron Goat Bar & Restaurant in my hometown of Canmore invites their most loyal customers to serve their staff at their annual Christmas dinner. A hotel in California held a promotion where the first guest each day to sing a pre-selected song received a free room upgrade. Sales reps at the outdoor advertising company AFA JCDecaux have been known to challenge clients to a game of Foosball in their lunchroom as a way for the client to earn a better price on their contract.

Speaking of great ideas to engage your customers (see what I did there?) -  sign up now for the Customer Service Leadership Summit, Calgary, November 15, 2017. Don't miss out!  (It will be the complete opposite of the conference mentioned below!)

    It's a Wacky World

Although you missed this year's event (it was held in May) in London, England, perhaps there are tickets available for next year's Boring Conference. Yup, it's a one day event to celebrate the mundane, the obvious, the overlooked, and the downright dull. Past topics have included toast, sneezing, the sounds made by vending machines, bar codes, yellow lines, and the television program Antiques Road Trip. (Why am I suddenly feeling sleep?)
