      Summer Fun at Work

We're taking our annual summer hiatus for several weeks, which I hope all of you have the chance to do as well. In the meantime, there's always homework you can catch up on with back issues of Humor at Work. And since summer has arrived for all of us northerners, here are a few fun at work ideas for the summer:

1. Take a team field trip through a local city park, zoo or interesting outdoor location. Make it a team building event, inspirational break, or a creative treasure hunt - where you use the field trip to spark innovative ideas you can take back to work.

2. Set up an ice cream sundae bar for every Friday lunch hour or afternoon.

3. Have teams sell lemonade to raise money for charity or your social fund. Turn it into a contest to see who can raise the most money.

4. Practice "Fishbowl Fridays" for the summer months. Everyone's name goes into a fishbowl, draw one name each week to see who gets released one hour early on Friday afternoons.

5. Hold a weekly "summer vacation memories" lunch where people share stories or slides about past vacations to spark ideas for everyone for future trips.

6. Take a staycation - book a day off to play tourist in your own backyard.

7. Hold a family open house where you invite relatives to tour your workplace, meet colleagues, and discover the latest and greatest happening in your workplace.

8. Hold a tackiest Hawaiian shirt theme day and contest.
