Hair-lowering Questions |
|
|
|
When I'm having a bad hair day (which, given my natural state of hair, can often be hard to differentiate from any other day) I know how powerful it can be to take a timeout to pause, regroup, and ask myself a few questions that will help ground me. Here are a few questions to consider
asking yourself, the next time your bad hair day has gotten a little too hairy.
- "Will this matter a year from now? How about a month from now?"
- "Is this really a bad thing that has happened or is it potentially a good thing? Or is it too soon to know?"
- "What is one small thing I can do that will make me feel more in control of this situation?"
- In Brené Brown's latest fascinating book, The Atlas of the Heart, she reveals two
questions she asks herself when she's feeling panicky: "Do I have enough information to freak out?" (the answer is almost always no) and "Will freaking out help?" (the answer is always no).
- "Who can I reach out to for another perspective or for help?"
- "What would ________ do in this situation?" (For a serious answer or just to tap into your sense of humor, you can insert anyone you admire, or your favorite superhero, comedian, or fictitious character.)
How about you? Do you have a go-to question you ask yourself when things get hairy?

Here's a meeting icebreaker question in honor of today being Eat What You Want Day. Ask everyone: "If you could wave a magic wand and make just one unhealthy food healthy, so you could eat unlimited amounts of it, what would it be?"

Today is Root Canal Appreciation Day, so this sign spotted at a dental office seems rather timely:
"Parking for dental patients only.
All others will be extracted."
