Questions for a Better Workplace |
|
|
|
I'm a big fan of asking thoughtful questions at work. Questions fuel curiosity and innovation, drive richer conversations,
and can help you become more self aware. Here are some questions that I think any team and workplace could benefit from, especially if everyone gets in the habit of asking these questions on a regular basis:
"What do you need from me that would help you do your best possible work?"
"Is there anything I could start doing or stop doing to make your job easier?"
"What do you see that I don't see?" or "How do you see this?"
"How could I/we have done this better?"
"Who ate my tuna fish sandwich?" (This is sadly needed more than many of us realize.)
"What question(s) are we afraid to ask?"
"What question haven't we asked yet?"
"When we look back on this when we're finished, what will make us all feel extremely proud?"
"If our #1 client was here right now, what would they ask us or want to know?"
"Do you have chocolate in that bag, and if so, are you planning on sharing?" (This question can come in handy in a surprising number of situations.)

Mike's Fun at Work Tip |
|
As a wacky meeting icebreaker try a round of "reverse trash talking" - where you speak to a colleague in an aggressive, trash talk style, but say nothing but fabulously positive things about them! This always generates laughs. For an example of what I mean, check out this video from The Late Show With James Corden
Show.

Funny Business |
|
As seen on a sign on an employee's cubicle wall (and I suspect many of us dog lovers could use one of these):
This person has gone ZERO days without talking about dogs.
Best previous record FIVE MINUTES.
