Mama Mia!  Office Workers Fight Stress Through Disco

I'm currently in Stockholm, Sweden doing some work research for my next book and being the huge ABBA fanatic that I am, I'm hoping to take part in a European trend that began in Stockholm by attending a Lunch Beat event. These monthly events began in 2010 when a group of 14 workers showed up on their lunch hour to disco dance in an underground parking lot. Now hundreds attend the alcohol-free disco dance lunch parties. The parties last one hour, after which everyone returns to work feeling re-energized and ready to tackle the afternoon. Now disco might not work for your team, but surely you can think of some other weekly or monthly activity that could encourage people to get away from their desks at lunch, have some fun, and return to work feeling refreshed and re-energized?

    Mike's Fun at Work Tip

One of the most fun things you can do at work is to create an incredible customer service experience for your customers. Wowing a customer makes it fun for the customer and for the person doing the wowing. So share customer service stories at work on a regular basis that will inspire you and your colleagues, such as...

An employee of Rackspace (a tech company) was having a marathon troubleshooting phone session with a customer when he overheard the customer tell someone they were getting hungry. The employee puts the customer on hold, orders up a pizza and when the door eventually rings, the IT tech tells the customer to answer the door because he's arranged for dinner!

    It's a Wacky World

Researchers from Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands have found that when people lean to the left (I mean literally, not politically) they tend to underestimate things, from the number of Michael Jackson hits to the heights of buildings.

Does this mean that if you get your customers leaning to the right, they will overestimate the value of services or products you are trying to sell them?  Hmmm.
