Finding the Glimmers: Small Moments That Make Work Brighter
Are you appreciating the glimmers that pop up unexpectedly in your workplace? Glimmers are those tiny micro-moments of joy we often forget to appreciate during a hectic workday. Think of them as the opposite of triggers - glimmers are those small feel-good moments that make us feel more positive.
We know that our brains are wired to focus and remember the negative stuff more than the positives, so focusing intentionally on glimmers is a simple way to counteract that tendency. Noticing glimmers is a proven way to reduce anxiety, boost resiliency, and inject a micro-dose of joy in our day when we need it the most.
And I really am talking about the small moments here. Taking the time to savor the aroma from your cup of coffee. Stopping for a moment to appreciate the artwork you walk past a dozen times a day. Taking a beat to listen - really listen - to a favorite song. Pausing to look at the intricate design of snow crystals on your office window. Appreciating a colleague's smile.
Glimmers are everywhere around us, if you simply take the time to stop time and notice them.
