Sometimes a small moment at work can come in the form of a simple nudge.
In fact, there's a concept of behavioral economics known as the nudge theory, which suggests that people's behaviors can be influenced
in simple ways. A frequently cited example of a nudge is the use of a housefly image etched onto men's urinals to help men improve their aim. Adding a smiley face to electric bills with suggestions on how to conserve consumption have proven to be effective nudges. Various governments have even employed "Nudge Units" to help dissuade or encourage certain societal behaviors.
In the workplace, nudges can help influence safety practices, improve teamwork, enhance customer service, promote greater civility, and ensure everyone is living your values out loud. What I love about the idea of a nudge is that it's rather non-threatening, isn't it? It's gentle. It's a civil way to encourage people as opposed to taking a cricket bat to their thick skulls, which is definitely something to be frowned upon at work, especially since it's difficult to even know
where one might obtain said cricket bat.
And nudges in the form of gentle reminders can do wonders to help maintain your motivation at work, boost resiliency, and sustain your mojo-ness. (Which, I choose to believe, is a word.)
So, have I got a
mojo-boosting nudge offer for you? Yes, yes I do!
Let's call them Michael'sMonday Morning Motivational Mojo Moments, because hey, who doesn't love a little alliteration along with their nudge?

As a meeting icebreaker ask everyone to share just one thing they do to get their mojo back when they are feeling a little uninspired or under-motivated at work.
