Why Doing the Right Thing is the Right Thing to Do!
I posted a video recently on LinkedIn and on my YouTube channel
musing about why it is we need a business case in order to just do the right thing!?
Do we seriously need to spell out the cost savings of making sure employees don't get injured or killed on their jobs? Do we need to lay out the business case for treating our customers fairly when they have a legitimate beef with us? Do we really need to distill the importance of
creating a happier workplace down to a financial bottom-line gain?
Okay so you can call me crazy (I've been called far worse actually) but what would the world look like if we just started doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do!
What if "doing the right thing" was the starting point for our conversations and decisions and then based on what we collectively decide is the right thing we figure out how to effectively run our businesses and still turn a profit? (The beauty of doing the right thing is that it always translates into greater financial success and it ALWAYS translates into a better night's sleep!)
I am not just speaking about organizations doing the right thing. How would our workplaces, our communities, and yes ultimately the entire world change for the better if we all just stared doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do!
