Celebrating the End of the Summer

For those of us north of the equator summer doesn't officially end until September 23, 2:49 am EST, but it sure feels like summer is drawing to a close after this weekend. So, here are some "back to school" ideas for your workplace to celebrate the transition into your fall season.
  • Shoot fun "back to school" type photos of employees or encourage employees to share before summer and after summer photos.
  • Have everyone share their #1 highlight of the summer.
  • Have everyone share/post their favorite book or movie from the summer.
  • Have everyone share their top 1- 3 things they are most excited about for the fall season.
  • Hold an optional "travelogue" luncheon where employees share the highlights from their summer travels to offer inspiration for fellow employees.
  • Hold a "farewell to summer" BBQ/luncheon/social
  • Use the Wheel of Change framework to recommit to your workplace culture as you gear up for the fall (by fall, I mean autumn, not, you know...the imminent demise of your organization): What's one thing everyone will commit to start doing; stop doing; and keep doing to help you improve your workplace?
  • Rent a school bus, drive to the CEOs house, and toilet paper their house! Okay, I'm clearly joshing about this one. Please don't do this. Or if you do, don't tell them where you got the idea.
