Appreciating the Elephant in the Room

You can't ignore the elephant in this room, because it's a giant stuffed elephant that the Danish auto parts company The Kjaer Group uses as a way to encourage employees to recognize each other. It's called the "Order of the Elephant," and it works like this: If a colleague has done something noteworthy that you want to appreciate them for, you bring them the giant elephant and share your positive praise. The elephant then stays with that employee until they have someone to pass it along to.

Because it's so visible, the elephant reminds everyone to continuously appreciate and recognize their coworkers, and it serves as a conversation starter because, well, people are so nosy that they get up in your business wondering what the heck you did to earn the elephant. (I meant this in a far more positive way than perhaps that came across.)
