    Confidently Speaking

I'm guessing that everyone would like to come across more confident in their day-to-day interactions. According to research from behavioral scientists, here are some phrases that will help you sound more confident at work:

Rather than saying, "This is never going to change" say, "I can change how I approach this."

Instead of, "This is just too complicated for me" say, "I don't understand this yet."

Instead of, "I really hate to bother you, say, "When you have time, I'd like to discuss..."

Instead of, "I failed" say, "This attempt didn't work out."

Instead of, "Why is this happening to me" say, "What can I learn or take away from this?"

Instead of, "I should do that" say, "I will do that."

Instead of, "I have to do this" say, "I get to do this."

Instead of, "Would Mike enjoy a chocolate gift basket?", say, "Mike is going to love this chocolate gift basket we've sent him." (This sounds far more action-oriented and makes you sound like a far more confident leader. Trust me.)

Look for fun ways to celebrate your customers' (or colleagues) birthdays. At the Pacini Calgary South Restaurant, customers receive a percentage discount equal to their age. So, if you are celebrating your 47th birthday you get 47% off. And if you are older than one hundred then you get a refund!
