    Celebrating the Year That Was

As 2022 draws to a close, it's important to take the time to celebrate and review the year that was. Here's a quick and simple framework to use with your team or family. Have everyone share:

1. Their top 3 successes/highlights/wins of the year.
2. The top 3 things they are most grateful for.
3. The top 3 things they are looking forward to in 2023.

If you have more time for the extended play version, then here are some additional questions to ponder and toss into the review salad:
  • If you could summarize the year in just one word, what word would you use?
  • What's the biggest obstacle you overcame this year?
  • What is something you tried or did that scared you at the time?
  • What are you most proud of from the last year?
  • What new skill did you learn this year?
  • What was one thing you learned about yourself this year?
  • Who made a real positive difference in your life?
  • What surprised you the most this last year?
  • Who inspired you the most this past year?
  • What was your favorite book, movie, or TV show from the past year?

In keeping with the above list, it's also a good time to review the funny-lights from 2022, which are like highlights, only, you know, funny. So at your next team meeting have everyone share their funniest work memory or blooper from the year.

    Funny Business

I always enjoy finding funny and punny business slogans, such as these:
  • At an optometrist's office: "If you don't see what you're looking for, you've come to the right place!"
  • At a tarp shop: "We run a shady business."
  • At a taxidermists' office: "We really know our stuff!"
  • At a turf farm: "We're easy to get a lawn with!"
