Questions for a More Innovative Workplace |
|
|
|
To help Google crowdsource ideas they created a program called The Simplicity Sprint, which involved asking 176,000 full-time employees these three questions:
-
What would help you work with greater clarity and efficiency to serve our users and customers?
-
Where should we remove speed bumps to get better results faster?
-
How do we eliminate waste and stay entrepreneurial and focused as we grow?
Asking their employees these questions using "we" language also helps create a sense of belonging for employees and gives them a voice in the future of their organization - two absolutely critical needs for a high-performing, innovative, and inspiring workplace. (Assuming that leadership teams really listen to the ideas and create opportunities for honest, two-way conversations!)

Mike's Fun at Work Tip |
|
Ask everyone on your team to submit their favorite song and have someone play the role of DJ to curate a playlist of everyone's favorite songs, then, at a team meeting or social event, play a game of "match the song to the person" to see who can guess which song was chosen by which person.

Funny Business |

Perhaps Legal Locksmith should win a door prize for their funny business sign:
"IF LIFE SHUTS A DOOR OPEN IT.
IT'S A DOOR.
THAT'S HOW THEY WORK."
